Greg Pickering
Since 2003 I have been National Records Officer and am assisted by my wife Anthea. We now have all national spearfishing records on a searchable database on the AUF website and some photos.
I am very interested in fish, spearfishing and records. I hold state spearfishing records in South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland including a number of AUF National Records. I set 3 IBSRC World Spearfishing Records for blue water game fish.

More on Greg- I have been spearfishing for 36 years. I have been a successful competition
diver. I won the Australian National Open Spearfishing Championship in 1990.
I represented Australia overseas many times including two World Championships.
I was a part of the first Australian Team to win an Interpacific Championships outside of Australia. I competed in the South African National Championships at Struisbai in 1994, finishing first.
I started Spearfishing in South Australia at Marino Rocks. I joined the
Triple āSā spearfishing club at Christies Beach. I went on to win four South
Australian State Championships. I shifted to Perth- Western Australia in 1990. I was active in the WA AUF Spearfishing Commission and was the commissioner for 3 years.
I have contributed to several books and magazines on spearfishing and
freediving. I competed in the World Freediving Championships in Sardinia Italy, in 1998. I have been a commercial Abalone Diver for 26 years and am a keen photographer
More on Anthea-My introduction to spearfishing was interesting to say the least. I seemed to spend hours on the beach, cliff top or just sitting in the car waiting for the guys to come back from shore dives in South Australia where I first met Greg. Then there would be the endless stories and fish filleting at the local ramp.
I have, since moving to Perth in 1990, been actively involved in the State Commission. I was the secretary of the WA State Spearfishing Commission for 4 years. I helped to run 2 of the National Spearfishing Championships held here. And I am now helping to put the National Records onto the Internet for all to access.
Greg and I have 4 daughters who are growing up too fast. I still play netball and am a keen photographer.
